Sekeramayi ran to South Africa seeking exile after Tsvangirai defeated Mugabe in 2008 claims Mutsvangwa

Minister of Defence Sydney Sekeramayi has been accused of being a “born-coward” by former cabinet minister turned anti-Mugabe activist Christopher Mutsvangwa. This comes as Sekeramayi has called for Zanu-PF structures not to interact with the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association leadership which is led by Christopher Mutsvangwa. The Mutsvangwa led executive has been highly critical of President Mugabe and has called for Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa to succeed him.

However, Mugabe who is believed to be against Mnangagwa’s aspirations is reported to be favouring Sekeramayi and the G40 Faction to take over from him. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Mutsvangwa launched a scathing attack on Sydney Sekeremayi saying:

We are going to pit that impeccable record of organisation against the upstarts of the G40. This is the mother of all battles in politics

This is the A-team. We gave him [Mugabe] victory in 1979 with [late Vice-President] Joshua Nkomo. In 2008, he was defeated by [MDC-T leader Morgan] Tsvangirai until the run-up. This A-team together with other stakeholders went back to the drawing board. We rescued the man who was in the jaws of defeat. The MDC crocodiles were chewing up.

And do you know who had run away when he [Mugabe] was being chewed up and had to be rescued by the technicality. Sekeramayi, as one of the G40, was already in Beitbridge looking for exile in South Africa.

We had to call him back. Now he’s strutting around as a puppet of the G40.
