The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has dismissed Registrar General Tobaiwa Mudede’s declaration that metal identification cards cannot be used to register or vote in the 2018 elections. Mudede had stated that metal identification cards cannot be used to register to vote or register because they are not machine readable. He urged people to get plastic identification cards.
However in a tweet, ZEC dismissed Mudede’s statement and said that metal IDs can be used to register and vote as long as they are not defaced.
