Energy Mutodi was granted $200 bail and remanded to September 14. He was arrested for a Facebook post that insinuated that Defence minister Sydney Sekeramayi and Health minister David Parirenyatwa were behind Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s poisoning at a Zanu-PF rally in Gwanda.
The State had initially opposed Mutodi’s bail application stating that the police wanted him to substantiate his claims by identifying the plane used to transport Mnangagwa, Parirenyatwa and Sekeramayi to Gwanda as well as the people who served the trio with samoosas, grapes and sandwiches inside the air force plane.
