Zanu-PF beefs up health services for Midlands rally after Mnangagwa poisoning incident

Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Jason Machaya told The Herald that they hired 8 ambulances for the Zanu-PF Youth Interface Rally expected to be held tomorrow. The beefing up in health services seems to be a direct response to the alleged poisoning incident that happened at the last rally held in Gwanda where Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa was rushed to hospital.

Said Machaya:

Eight ambulances, 118 health workers, including four doctors have been mobilised to attend to members of the public, as well as VVIPs.

Midlands Provincial Medical Director Dr Simon Nyadundu said:

In terms of health and safety, we are on alert and ready to attend to any case. The 120 000 people we expect constitute a medical services district. We have seven ambulances positioned to act as treatment points. There will be a tent which will be monitored by a doctor.

Midlands province is taunted as being Mnangagwa’s stronghold and it remains to be seen if the Vice President who has kept a low profile since his return from South Africa where he received medical treatment, will attend the rally.
