Tererai Mugwadi in court for drunk driving and killing one person

Musician Tererai Mugwadi (32), appeared in court yesterday facing culpable homicide charges after she drove her car while drunk leading to an accident that killed one person. She was asked not to plead when she appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Oliver Mudzongachiso who remanded her out of custody to September 4, for trial.

The court heard that Mugwadi was involved in a car accident on June 23 this year at around 8.40pm. She was driving a Toyota Rav 4 along Seke Road under the influence of alcohol. Mugwadi allegedly failed to control her vehicle, swerved and encroached onto oncoming traffic before hitting a Toyota Hiace truck which was being driven by Tichaona Takaeneya with one passenger, Seremani Marvellous who was sitting at the back of the vehicle. The passanger died on the spot after the vehicle overturned.
