Metal IDs will not be used to register or vote in 2018: Mudede

Addressing journalists in the capital today, Registrar General Tobaiwa Mudede said that old metal identity cards will not be accepted for voting in next year’s elections.

Mudede is quoted as saying that the old metal identity cards will not be accepted for voting as they cannot be read by a biometric machine. He urged those with old metal ids to replace them with the machine readable identity cards. He also announced that  mobile registration exercise which kicks off next on 4 September. The exercise will last until the 30th of November 2017. He urged all metal identification card holders to get plastic ones.
