Address our concerns first before concentrating on MDC Alliance coalition: Khupe tells Tsvangirai

MDC-T Vice President Thokozani Khupe has urged her president Morgan Tsvangirai to concentrate on resolving issues in the party before prioritising the coalition MDC Alliance. Khupe urged Tsvangirai to meet with party leaders in Bulawayo on Saturday to address their concerns instead of launching the MDC Alliance in Bulawayo.

Part of a letter written to Tsvangirai says:

We accordingly suggest and request that you urgently have a dialogue with the leadership as well as the membership to all affected areas in the spirit of devolution of power as enshrined in the Constitution of Zimbabwe. We, accordingly, implore you to provide the structures with the detailed explanation on the contents of the alliance agreement.

We further suggest that the launch of the alliance agreement in Bulawayo scheduled for September 2, 2017 be suspended pending, and to allow consultations with the leadership and structures. The launch can subsequently be made after dialogue, consultations and concurrence of the leadership on the signed agreement.

However, MDC-T spokesperson Obert Gutu said the launch of the MDC Alliance will go on as previously planned.
