Twine Phiri on the run after failing to pay maintenance

Former CAPS United president and PSL chairperson Twine Phiri was issued with a warrant of arrest last Friday after he disappeared at Harare Magistrates’ Court, where he was set to appear and answer to charges of defaulting paying maintenance.

Phiri’s name was shouted three times outside the courtroom. The complainant in the matter is Phiri’s former wife, Keresia Phiri, who resides in Chadcombe, Harare. Twine Phiri was sentenced to three months in prison on May 22 this year, but the sentence was wholly suspended on condition that he settled his $5 971 maintenance debt on or before August 1, 2017.
