Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, General Constantino Chiwenga has claimed that he harbors no ill will towards the outspoken Higher Education Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo. Chiwenga went as far as claiming that, there is no bad blood between the two. This is despite the fact that Chiwenga threatened Moyo with unspecified action in the media after his scathing criticism of Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Command Agriculture program. Moyo retorted by saying that General Chiwenga had not written his Ph.D thesis.
However, speaking at the National Heroes Acre, General Chiwenga said:
That’s not true (bad blood), that’s not it.
Everybody in the country has got freedom of expression and this is a right which is in the Constitution.
He (Moyo) has the freedom to say whatever he wants, anywhere and I also have the right to say whatever I want. But after that, we remain one.
However, Chiwenga refused to elaborate when asked what he had meant when he said Moyo had reached the point “where they wanted him to be.”
