Man stabs tout to death after being forced to board bus

Methulisi Ndingidi (41) appeared before Gokwe Magistrate Ms Evelyn Mashavakure, yesterday, facing a murder charge after he stabbed a tout, Nqobile Phiri who was in the company of Melusi Ndlovu and other touts who are still at large, after they assaulted him for refusing to board a C.A.G bus they were touting for. Ndingindi was remanded in custody to August 31.

The court heard that Ndingindi was assaulted by Phiri with a baton stick claiming that he was the one influencing other passengers not to board the C.A.G bus they were touting for. One of Phiri’s accomplices produced a knife and demanded Ndingindi’s money which he surrendered out of fear but Phiri did not stop assaulting him. The court heard that Ndingidi grabbed the knife from one of the accused persons and stabbed Phiri once on his chest before handing himself over to the police.
