Former Delta workers in court for defrauding firm of $760 000

Former Delta Beverages workers; Jasi Ranjisi (32) the company’s former stock controller, Mufudzi Ndoro (34), who was employed as territory accountant, and Mavis Chipungare, the accounting officer, appeared before Ms Josephine Sande charged with defrauding their former employer of $761 616.

They were released on $500 bail and ordered to surrender their passports, report once a week to the police and to reside at their supplied addresses until the matter is finalised. The court heard that between February 2016 and June 19 this year, the trio connived to defraud Delta by raising fraudulent expense claims. It is alleged Ranjisi made fraudulent casual wages claims, out of town allowance claims, yard maintenance and motor vehicle maintenance claims. He purported that the expenses were incurred by Delta Beverages before submitting the claim forms to Ndoro for payment authorisation.

Ndoro and Chipungare allegedly authorised and processed the payments despite the claim forms not being accompanied by supporting documents as proof. The offence came to light following an internal audit.
