Violence breaks out at MDC Rally in Masvingo

MDC-T shadow MP for Masvingo Central constituency Allan Moyo was allegedly assaulted by hired youths at a rally over the weekend. Moyo was reported to have been assaulted soon after finishing his speech by youths who did not want him to represent them in next year’s harmonised elections and preferred one Muzhazu instead.

MDC-T national spokesperson Obert Gutu could not confirm the incident saying:

I am yet to get the full details. I just saw it on social media. I am still to verify that with Moyo.

I don’t have the full facts at the moment, but as a party, we condemn all forms of violence. We will carry out an investigation to get the details of what really transpired.
