Truck driver who caused Proliner accident to appear in court on Thursday to face 31 counts of culpable homicide

Regis Mangwari, the haulage truck driver who allegedly sideswipped a South africa bound Proliner bus resulting in the deaths of 31 people on the spot in April will appear in court in Thursday. 40 people were injured in the accident which occured along the Harare-Masvingo highway.

Mangwari is facing 31 counts of culpable homicide and negligent driving. He is denying the charges alleging that he was not at fault as the truck’s steering wheel had locked resulting in him failing to control it. The trial could not be held last week as Mangwari claimed that he could not stand in the dock due to ill-health.
