South African lawyer and private prosecutor Gerrie Nel is preparing to offer his help to South African model Gabriella Engels. The model was allegedly assaulted by First Lady Grace Mugabe at a Sandton Hotel on Sunday with an extension cable. Grace Mugabe is now claiming diplomatic immunity to shield her from prosecution.
Nel, who is nicknamed “the Bulldog” or “the Pitbull,” successfully prosecuted former South African police commissioner Jackie Selebi for corruption and Paralympian Pistorius for murder, is set to announce how he will assist Engels later on Thursday.
Civil society group AfriForum said:
Advocate Nel will announce at the conference what steps will be taken to support Ms Engels.
