11 injured as unlicensed driver attempts to evade roadblock

11 people were injured on Monday after an unlicensed BMW driver who was allegedly trying to escape from a police roadblock made a sudden U-turn and crashed into a truck they were travelling in along the Bulawayo-Harare Road near One Infantry Brigade.

The truck was travelling to Shangani in Matabeleland South and the BMW was travelling in the same direction. Speaking to The Chronicle, Bulawayo Chief Fire Officer, Mr Richard Peterson confirmed the accident and said the injured who were all from the truck were rushed to Bulawayo United Hospitals some with spinal injuries. He also said that the driver of the BMW was arrested.
