Govt to build 117 schools as deficit stands at 2056 school

The government through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is inviting bids for the construction of 117 schools. This will partly offset the deficit of schools which stands at 2056 schools.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Sylvia Utete-Masango said:

You would appreciate that in 2013 there was a survey which showed that we had a deficit of 2 056 schools.

Then there is the joint venture with the Infrastructure Development Bank whose first phase will see the construction of 100 schools.
