Police hunting for War Veterans leader Matemadanda

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) are looking for Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association (ZNLWVA) secretary-general, Victor Matemadanda, and have summoned him. They reportedly want to arrest him, although they have not specified the charge yet. It is suspected that it has to do with the “anti-government” statements he has made in the past few weeks. However, unconfirmed reports claim that Matemadanda has already been arrested.

His lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa, said that she was unable to locate him despite the fact that they had agreed to surrender to the police on Wednesday. Said Mtetwa:

I was supposed to take him to the Law and Order section on Wednesday (tomorrow) because we only got information that they were looking for him on Saturday.

But now, there is some sort of confusion because I got a message from someone informing me that police have since picked him up. I have been trying to locate him, but with no success.
