Woman fined $300 for forging O Level certificate, uses it to get a place to train as a nurse

Naleki Nyathi (42) of Northvale suburb in Bulawayo was convicted of forging an Ordinary Level certificate which she then used to get a place to train as a nurse at Mpilo Central Hospital. She was fined $300 or 60 days in jail in case of default by Bulawayo magistrate Ms Gladmore Mushove.

She was given until tomorrow to pay the fine. She was sentenced to an additional three months in prison which was wholly suspended for five years on condition that she does not within that period commit a similar offence. The court heard that sometime in 2016, Nyathi applied for a nurse training place at Mpilo Central using a forged O Level certificate. The certificate was disowned by the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) when it was sent for verification.
