We are fed up with double standards in Zanu-PF, Kasukuwere must go : War veterans
Leaders of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War veterans Association (ZNLWA) have reiterated calls for the expulsion of Zanu-PF National Political Commissar Saviour Kasukuwere after 9 provinces passed a vote of no confidence in him amid allegations that he was planning to topple President Mugabe. The war veterans are unhappy that Kasukuwere is seemingly being protected by the First Family after President Mugabe recently said that Politburo members cannot have a no-confidence vote passed against them. This seems to have irked Christopher Mutsvangwa, who was expelled from Zanu-PF despite the fact that he was a Politburo member.
Said Mutsvangwa at a press conference:
The idea that there can be a vote of no confidence and somebody goes and appeals to the First Lady to restore (Charles) Tawengwa, that is nonsense. It is over now. We were done with vote of confidence. I was a Politburo member, what makes Kasukuwere different from me? I was removed from the party. They even went to my constituency and my constituency gave them bitterness in Norton and the party lost. What is special in Kasukuwere which the President says we must do with procedures? Procedures apply to everybody starting with Mutsvangwa, Matemadanda . . . all chairpersons who they removed. That is where procedures start from.
