Bhebhe comments on reports Khupe is breaking away from MDC-T following attack

In an interview with The Herald, MDC-T national organising secretary Mr Abednico Bhebhe commented on a WhatsApp message that suggested that the opposition party’s Vice President Thokozani Khupe was considering forming a splinter group.

Bhebhe acknowledged weeing the message but denied that they are breaking away from MDC-T. Said Bhebhe:

We saw the message. It started circulating yesterday. It could have been created by the same people who were probably involved in sending people to assault us. Those messages are a fallacy; it’s the same people sending the youth to cause mayhem in the party. We are not going anywhere. We are going to argue our position in the party.

The WhatsApp message suggested that Khupe was going to form a splinter party, deputised by Lovemore Moyo and Bhebhe. According to The Herald part of the message has the following resolutions:

. . . to form own party and appoint Khupe as president, Lovemore and Bhebhe as deputies. The three leaders to urgently engage the grassroots with this message. All from the region to boycott national council meetings. NB: We went to the meeting without knowing the agenda. This is what transpired at the meeting.
