$200 fine for pointing gun at former workmate

Harare magistrate Ms Nomsa Sabarauta sentenced Dickson Kajamatimba of Epworth to 4 months in prison or a fine of $200 for pointing his gun at a former workmate. The court was told, that the workmate told Kajamatimba’s wife that he was unfaithful and had several girlfriends. Feeling aggrieved, Kajamatimba confronted the work mate accusing him of being a rumour monger. Things quickly escalated and Kajamatimba drew a Taurus pistol. However, other employees managed to disarm him and handed the gun over to the police.

In passing judgement Magistrate Sabarauta said:

Pointing a firearm is not a way of settling squabbles. There is an increase in crimes that lead to murder after people fail to control their emotions.
