Zimbabwean arrested in Malaysia for human trafficking

Zimbabwean national was arrested by Malaysian police on allegations of human trafficking following a joint sting operation by South Africa’s Hawks and Interpol. The Zimbabwean is linked to a pageant run by Taremeredzwa Munzara.

Munzara was implicated by South African model, Princess Mahlangu, who said she was made to travel to Malaysia under the impression that she would participate in Munzara’s Miss United Countries pageant, but was threatened with death upon arrival, leading to the arrest. Munzara however said the pageant which was scheduled to be held on July 29 was blocked by the Malaysian government.

NewsDay reports that South Africa’s State broadcaster, SABC reported on the arrest and a statement from the South African Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, known as the Hawks, confirmed that a Zimbabwean had been arrested.
