Senior Zanu-PF officials employing children as cheap labour in sugarcane plantations

Plantation workers’ representatives and child rights activists told Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Justice ministry permanent secretary, Virginia Mabhiza that senior Zanu-PF officials and Cabinet ministers are employing underage workers, as cheap labour in sugarcane plantations in Chiredzi.

Mabhiza said that Government was not aware of such practices and urged the community to report such cases as they contravene Section 75 of the Constitution which guarantees the universal right to education for every child.
