According to a report by the Zimbabwe Vulnerability Assessment Committee (ZimVac), the Matabeleland provinces received the highest amount of diaspora remittances last year. Matabeleland South received 31,4 percent followed by Matabeleland North which received 11 percent of the remittances. Mashonaland West and Mashonaland Central had the least diaspora remittances at 1,8 percent each. However, the report did not state the exact amounts.
The report highlighted that perhaps most of the families from Matabeleland region are supported by relatives based in neighbouring countries.
