Govt officials who were fired after being dressed down by Grace Mugabe

Following yesterday’s (29 July) dressing down of Presidential spokesperson George Charamba by First Lady Grace Mugabe at a Zanu-PF youth rally in Chinhoyi, we have decided to compile a list of people who were fired after a verbal attack by Dr Amai.

1.Johannes Tomana

At a groundbreaking ceremony and commissioning of earthmoving equipment at Macsherp Holdings in Kadoma, First Lady Grace Mugabe took shots at Tomana and labelled him a paedophile after his controversial statements that 12-year-old girls can consent to sex.

Said Grace:

Men, you are a problem and you don’t clearly understand. I have heard something — I don’t know if it’s true — that girls can be married at 12 years. Who will say that because a sane person who has children aged 10 years cannot expect to marry off that child in two years’ time. You will see the person saying such things, but later to say that I was misquoted — why were you saying that in the first place? We will hit you with clenched fists. I, Mrs Mugabe, I will kick him.

Tomana was fired in June 2017, by President Robert Mugabe following a year long suspension on allegations of incompetence and misconduct.

2. Joice Mujuru

Before Joice Mujuru was fired from her post as Vice President, Grace Mugabe launched a verbal attack on her, during her “Meet the People” rallies in 2014. Addressing about 1 000 college students and party youths at her Mazowe Children’s Home in November 2014,  Grace claimed that she had video and audio recordings where Vice-President Joice Mujuru was captured speaking ill against the First Family.

Her statement came after Mujuru issued a statement denying the charges and threatening to sue party officials and media organisations making false accusations against her. Mujuru also vowed to resist any attempts to push her out of office unconstitutionally, saying “no amount of malicious, hurtful and false statements” would cause her to quit.

Mujuru and eight ministers were fired by President Robert Mugabe on accusations of being behind a plot to topple him from power. The eight ministers were; Didymus Mutasa, Nicholas Goche, Francis Nhema, Olivia Muchena, Webster Shamu and Simbaneuta Mudarikwa.
