MDC was naive to trust Zanu-PF during constitution making process: Ibbo Mandaza
Political analyst, Ibbo Mandza, has said that the MDC parties were naive to trust Zanu-PF in the constitutional making process as the ruling party negotiated in bad faith. This follows the passing of Constitutional Amendment Number 1 Bill on Tuesday. The bill seeks to give the President the power to appoint the Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justice and Judge President, unlike the current situation where the candidates are publicly interviewed.
Said Mandaza:
The new Constitution was more of an agreement between political parties than a genuine constitution-making exercise.
FeedbackZanu PF negotiated in bad faith and the opposition MDCs were naïve in their approach of trusting the regime.
MDC-T has to be answerable to the people of Zimbabwe for the support they gave to the process.
