The Sheriff of the High Court has been advised to seek the help of ZRP commissioner-general Augustine Chihuri and Central Intelligence Organisation director-general Happyton Bonyongwe in order to arrest Minister of Home Affairs Ignatius Chombo. This comes after security officials at the Zanu-PF headquarters prevented the sheriff from arresting Chombo last Wednesday when he was reported to be in a Politburo meeting. Chombo is supposed to be arrested for contempt of court.
Last year, High Court judge Justice Amy Tsanga, sentenced Chombo to 90 days in prison last year after she found him guilty of contempt of court for failing to comply with a court order which directed him to help in the release of $78 900 which the police confiscated from businessman Tendai Blessing Mangwiro. The Sheriff has been advised to get help from Chihuri and Bonyongwe as Chombo has VIP status.
After failing to arrest him last week, the Sheriff wrote:
… failed to arrest the respondent (Chombo) who was said to be engaged at the politburo at the Zanu PF headquarters and was barred by security personnel to physically check his office and corroborate such fact.
