Matebeleland North revives banned civvies day to raise funds

Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education officials in Matebeleland North province have ordered all schools the province to hold a “special” civvies to fundraise for the 3rd Education Conference and Expo 2017 which will run from 30 August to 1 September 2017 in Harare.

A circular in The Chronicle’s possession, shows that schools have been ordered to hold a civvies day on July 21 where learners will be charged $0.50 per head. Speaking to The Chronicle, Matabeleland North Provincial Education Director Mrs Boitathelo Mnguni said that the civvies day is a once off event and they expect to raise a minimum of $10 000 to send about 700 school heads.
