No salary increase for civil servants

Presenting the 2016 annual budget review and the 2017 economic outlook, Minister of Finance Patrick Chinamasa revealed that Government will be maintaining a salary freeze in an effort to reduce the wage bill which he said is currently at $3.2 billion.

Said Chinamasa:

Therefore, riding on Cabinet approval in 2016 to reduce the employment costs bill, Government will continue to implement the recommendations of the Civil Service Skills Audit, maintain freeze on salary reviews and filling of vacancies and will undertake rationalisation of benefits and foreign travel.
