Coalition talks have not collapsed, however, July deadline is too early: Mujuru

Former Vice President Joice Mujuru has dismissed claims that negotiations for a coalition of opposition parties have collapsed insisting that there are no major fights among the partners. However, she highlighted that the July deadline which had been proposed by Morgan Tsvangirai is too ambitious.

Speaking at the signing of an electoral alliance between her party and the Democratic Assembly for Restoration and Empowerment (DARE) leader Gilbert Dzikiti Mujuru said:

I urge all our supporters and citizens of Zimbabwe to remain calm as we conclude our discussions. As I have always said, we do not negotiate in the media, so do not be misled by headlines suggesting that the coalition talks are dead.

These signings are provided for in our MoU we signed with the MDC-T and therefore should not be read to signal discord among coalition partners.

A deadline could have been set but, what I realize is that what we really want as political parties is to make sure that our people are satisfied with our expectations, the deadline could be too early. 31st July might not be feasible or practical though we are time conscious.
