Zimbabwe National Army evicts 200 resettled villagers

The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has evicted 200 resettled villagers saying that the villagers illegally resettled in a protected area. The villagers were evicted from Lazy Nine Farm in Shurugwi.

In a statement, director Army public relations lieutenant colonel Alphios Makotore said:

The area is an officially gazetted cantonment area as stipulated under the Government Gazette Notice No. 802/1978

…Whoever resettled those villagers did so without consulting the relevant military authorities who could have shown the boundaries of the gazetted area.

In that regard, the eviction order stands because those villagers were illegally resettled.
