Man sentenced to 210 hours community service for breaking into GMB and stealing 600 empty sacks for resale

David Chalisebela (33) of Lwendulo village in Hwange was sentenced on his own plea of guilt when he appeared before Hwange magistrate, Sharon Rosemani after he was arrested for breaking into the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) depot in Hwange and stealing 625 empty sacks for resale.

Chalisebela was sentenced to nine months in jail but three months were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour while the remaining six months were commuted to 210 hours of community service at Lwendulu High School.

The court heard that on July 10, Chalisebela broke into Hwange GMB depot by jumping over a perimeter fence and took 625 empty 50kg sacks. He was however caught by Cornelius Muzugu of Online Security Company.
