Zanu-PF Politburo turns down national hero status request for former Zipra High Command member

Speaking to The Chronicle, War Veterans Minister Retired Col Tshinga Dube revealed that Zanu-PF’s Politburo turned down a request by Bulawayo province to confer the late Lieutenant Colonel Eddie Sigoge Mlotshwa with the national hero status.

Dube said that the late Lt-Col Mlotshwa was a member of the Zipra High Command. Said Dube:

He was a member of the Zipra High Command meaning he was a very senior person. Even today most of the commanders are here to pay their last respects to him. Although he was no longer in the army the military funeral parade and salute is a very important honour befitting him.
