Cop files $26 000 lawsuit against bus company after losing wife and daughter

John Mapona, a policeman, is suing Pioneer bus company after its bus was involved in an accident which resulted in the death of his wife and daughter. The accident occured on January 18, 2015, when the Pioneer bus was involved in a head-on collision with a Zupco bus along the Harare-Nyamapanda Road. Mapona’s wife Monica, and daughter Believe died on the spot while he sustained serious injuries.

Mapona filed the lawsuit at the High Court and is demanding $26 000 in damages for injuries suffered and compensation for medical bills he incurred. He believes that the accident was caused by the negligence of the driver of the Pioneer bus, whom he accused of encroaching into the wrong lane. Part of his court papers read.

As a result of the accident, the plaintiff has been disfigured on his head, as a result the plaintiff now has constant severe headaches, and he experiences severe pain in his shoulders and as such has to consult medical specialists regularly.

The plaintiff has suffered financial loss as a result of the accident as he has been put out of pocket to seek medical intervention.

Plaintiff lost two close family members and has not yet recovered from the tragic event. More so, plaintiff experienced a lot of pain and suffering and has also been disturbed in his studies.
