ZEC saying that it does no have the 2013 voters rolls, shows 2018 elections may already be rigged: ERC

Election watchdog the Zimbabwe Election Resource Centre (ERC) says that it fears that the 2018 elections may already have been rigged. This comes after the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) refused to release the voters roll used in the 2013 elections to local activist group, Concerned Citizens Support Network of Zimbabwe, arguing that it does not have a copy of the roll.

Tawanda Chimhini, the ERC director, told a freedom of expression event:

Even if we are to get a new voters’ roll and even if it is going to be availed to us, we cannot do any comprehensive interrogation of that roll without having a 2013 voters’ roll that is the base line that we have.

We saw that in 2013 and we are still seeing it right now and we are nearing the next election and we do not have a voters’ roll; in fact ZEC says it does not have a copy of the voters’ roll which is the very document that will determine how the elections are going to be conducted which is nowhere to be found barely 13 months before the elections.

ZEC says they do not have it but we know that during every by -election ZEC is getting some form of electronic version of a 2013 election voters’ roll which they are using at the polling stage, because they are using two electronic voters’ rolls.
