Zim Cricket makes history, highest successful run chase ever in Sri Lanka

The Zimbabwe cricket team defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the first one-day international played in Galle, Sri Lanka. The hosts posted a massive 316-5 in their allotted 50 overs. However, the Chevrons managed to chase this total successfully and won the match with 14 balls remaining after they posted 322-4.  Zimbabwe became the first ever country to successfully chase a target of 300+ in Sri Lanka. This was also the highest successful chase ever in Sri Lanka, in 296 ODIs. Solomon Mire was the hero for Zimbabwe after top scoring with 112 runs. He was supported by Sikandar Raza with 67 runs.

Very special! To chase down a score like that to post our first win here was amazing. For our batting to chase the total down, special. Mire is a real asset to the team, not just with the bat but also with the ball. He’s lovely to watch. We just want to take it one game at a time. We can hopefully carry this confidence forward.
