RBZ appoints 6 financial institutions to administer student loans

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has appointed six financial institutions which will be responsible for the administration of loans for tertiary students. The loans are part of the proposed Educational Loan Facility for Higher  Tertiary Education Programmes that is the brainchild of Professor Jonathan Moyo. The government wants to implement this year. The six institutions are

  1. CBZ Bank
  2. Eduloan
  3. Getbucks
  4. NMB Bank
  5. People’s Own Savings Bank
  6. ZB Bank

The RBZ said:

The six institutions, together with the Reserve Bank, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development are expected to undertake a comprehensive feasibility study and come up with the most viable operational framework for the student loan facility model.
