MDC-T hires academics to formulate manifesto for 2018 elections

A source told NewsDay that MDC-T has hired  Philani Zamchiya, Solomon Mungure, Gideon Chitanga, Pedzisayi Ruhanya and Mfundo Mlilo to work on the party’s manifesto dubbed SMART Project.

When contacted by the publication for a comment, MDC-T spokesman Obert Gutu confirmed that the party is working on the manifesto but could not name the individuals tasked with coming up with the document. Said Gutu:

The policy writing is work in progress and when we are doing things, there are certain issues that should be kept out of the public domain until the time is ripe. You don’t expect me to announce that X, Y and Z are in the team. At the appropriate time we will announce to Zimbabweans and the electorate when the document is in place and they can comment on it.
