An HIV positive tuck shop owner, Maxwell Chisvo (28) from Chitungwiza was sentenced to 15 years in jail by magistrate Ms Estere Chivasa on Wednesday for sodomising a 17 year old boy.
Chisvo will however spend an effective 12 years in jail after Chivasa suspended 3 years for five years on condition of good behaviour. The tuck shop owner had pleaded not guilty but was convicted due to overwhelming evidence against him.
The court heard that on May 10 at around 5pm, the teenage boy went to Chisvo’s tuckshop to charge his cellphone. Chisvo he asked him to attend to his customers from 7pm to 9pm, promising to pay him a dollar saying he could not do so as he had a headache. The boy did so after telling his mother. The teenager slept over in the tuckshop and shared a blanket with Chisvo. Around 11pm, Chisvo sodomised the boy who told his mother the following day leading to his arrest.
