Zanu-PF responds to reports that Trump's envoy demanded urgent reforms, blames opposition parties

In response yesterday, Zanu-PF spokesperson, Simon Khaya Moyo said visiting Deputy Assistant Secretary for African Affairs, Carol O’Connel did not mention the need for reforms in their meetings and insisted that she could have been influenced by the opposition to make pronouncements on US foreign policy.

Said Moyo:

She never raised those issues (political and economic reforms) in the meetings we had. I actually met her and she never said that. We do not know who else she met, but we suspect it could be influence from the opposition.

We do not promote relations with other countries, including the US, in the media. We have an embassy in Washington and that is the job of the people we put there. We are not begging the Americans for a good relationship. Good relations between the US and Zimbabwe will be mutually beneficial to both countries.
