Video: Moyo attacks the Command ideology of Team Lacoste led by Emmerson Mnangagwa

Speaking at the SAPES Policy Dialogue dubbed “Third Pan African Lecture – Wither the Nationalist project in Zimbabwe”, Higher and Tertiary Education Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo attacked the command ideology that he attributed to the Team Lacoste faction in Zanu-PF. Said Moyo:

It is again now in the public domain that the so called Team Lacoste is about command economics, command politics, command ideology and command everything. I think there was something very important to be said about the Command Agriculture which is meaningful because it was intended as a maize import substitution programme. But the extension of that logic to everything, to  framing everything, even before we have taken stock of the Command Agriculture or the maize import substitution programme is amazing and in my view misplaced. This command framing business is as revealing as it is dangerous but it is contrary to the values and logic of the nationalist project because it sought to empower the people, it sought to empower the communities not to command them but to free their spirit, to unleash their energies sothat they can contribute to the building of an independent Zimbabwe.
