Police officer to be disciplined for detaining journalist for taking pictures of them carrying out private business at a roadblock

A police officer in Chiredzi only identified as Sergeant Mutepfa will face disciplinary action for arresting and detaining  freelance photojournalist, Dumisani Zvandasara for taking pictures of them carrying out private business at a roadblock last year.

This comes after Zvandasara filed an official complaint through the Anti–Corruption Trust of Southern Africa. Part of the letter to Zvandasara signed by the Officer Commanding Chiredzi district, Chief Superintendent Peter Magwenzi, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) seen by NewsDay said the three police officers had acted improperly and would be charged. Magwenzi did not however disclose the action that will be taken against Mutepfa.
