Zanu-PF wins Hurungwe ward 2 by-elections unopposed

Hurungwe District Election Officer Mr Taona Pfunye, declared Zanu-PF candidate Edward Makarani the duly elected councillor for Ward 2 after he filed filed his papers uncontested for the Ward 2 by-election which was scheduled for July 15.

The post fell vacant following the death of Councillor Ellen Kunodziya (Zanu-PF) who collapsed at her farm in Tengwe last month while preparing to travel to the district offices in Magunje to collect her monthly allowance. The MDC-T in 2015 declared that it will not participate in by-elections until the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) puts in place electoral reforms.
