A self proclaimed prophet Christopher Chamisa (26) and a seventeen year old believed to be from Maranda area in Masvingo province were arrested for allegedly shooting and seriously injuring a shopkeeper Dion Muleya (48) and his assistant Perseculia Singo, with an AK47 after firing 25 shots during an armed robbery in Jalukanga area, some 120km west of Beitbridge town.
The two and were visiting a relative in Jalukanga area when they committed the offence. Acting Officer Commanding Beitbridge District, Superintendent Elvis Nekati, the two stole R6 000 and two cellphones before they were arrested following a tip off. Nekati said that they are still conducting investigations. Matabeleland South Police spokesperson Inspector Philisani Ndebele said the two would be charged with attempted murder and armed robbery.
