Tourism industry agrees on salary increments

Members of the National Employment Council (NEC) for the tourism sector met early this week and agreed on a new and slightly improved wage deal for workers in the tourism sector. According to terms of the new agreement, lowest paid workers in the leisure business mainly hotel employees (sector 1) will earn $260 up from $254 per month. Lowest paid workers in the hunting business (sector 1b) will earn a basic salary of $206 up from $200 per month. The lowest paid workers in in conservation, safari and wildlife operations (sector 2) will get a basic salary of US$122 per month.
