Delish Nguwaya a former police officer who is facing fraud charges has accused the two senior police officers of planting evidence against him after he had exposed their corruption.
Nguwaya claims that he was arrested for extortion in an operation conducted by the Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) to weed out rogue cops. After his arrest, he was promised immunity in exchange for evidence gainst other officers. He then implicated Chief Superintendant, Nyaradzai Majachani and Superintendant, Shepherd Tachiona who allegedly extorted $5 000 from a Chinese businessman.
He claims that police planted cocaine in his car and detained him for a month and a half to cover up the crimes committed by the two senior officers. Nguwaya has applied for referral of his case to the con-court citing that his right to protection from the self-incrimination has been infringed upon and he will not receive a fair trial.
