Chitungwiza residents express outrage over refusal to disclose commission's earnings

Chitungwiza Residents Trust (Chitrest) director Marvellous Kumalo has expressed outrage over the refusal to disclose the allowances that are being earned by the Madzudzo Pawadyira-led commission that was set up by Saviour Kasukuwere to investigate the 25 councillors who were suspended on allegations of corruption.

Said Kumalo:

This commission does not even know their mandate. They have refused to share their terms of reference with us and that is suspicious. To add to that, when we asked them how much they were getting as allowances, they refused to disclose. They are investigating other people’s allowances yet they are keeping theirs a secret. Unless they signed a non-disclosure agreement with the ministry, they have nothing to hide.

Kumalo also criticised Pawadyira for requesteing a closed-door meeting with some members of the residents’ pressure group, stating that if he has anything to say it should be said in front of everyone.
