The Anti-Poaching Police Team arrested 5 poachers after exchanging fire with one of them at the Matopos National Park. The suspected poacher was injured and is currently at Mpilo Central Hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition. The poachers had shot a wildebeest and two kudus which were valued at $4 600.
Matabeleland South Police spokesperson Inspector Philisani Ndebele said:
I can confirm receiving a report of five men who were arrested for poaching. A wildebeest, two kudus and a firearm were recovered at the scene.
…We urge members of the public to shun poaching as the law will descend heavily on them. These animals belong to us as a nation and our responsibility is to guard them jealously
