Zanu-PF aligned Zicosu bribes students with $10, chocolates and sadza to win UZ elections
ZINASU Secretary General, Makomborero Haruzivishe, said that his organisation lost the recently held University of Zimbabwe (UZ) Students Representative Council (SRC) elections because their rivals rigged the election. Zinasu lost the elections after polling 1200 votes while the Zanu-PF aligned Zicosu polled 1400 votes. Haruzivishe accused Zicosu of buying votes using meal tickets, chocolates and money. Zicosu reportedly gave students $10 each to go with the meal tickets, chocolates and kombi fares.
Speaking at a press conference Haruzivishe said:
What we know very well is that the elections at the University of Zimbabwe were rigged. Chocolates, sadza tickets that were distributed near the campus dining hall and a situation where the university was turned into a large supermarket by the Zanu PF-aligned group were a cause for concern
