Bulawayo High Court Judge Justice Nicholas Mathonsi has confirmed an earlier ruling by Gokwe magistrate Mr Christopher Maturure to sentence a woman to 5 years in prison for unlawful possession of gold. Necola Moyo a 23-year-old self-confessed prostitute was arrested with 0.22 grammes of gold which was valued at 15 cents. She was convicted despite her defence in which she claimed that the gold belonged to a client and that she was just holding onto it for him.
Said Justice Mathonsi:
I certify that these proceedings appear to me to be in accordance with true and substantial justice
